1. 竞赛单元介绍

20122013年“首届深圳独立动画双年展·心灵世界:作为虚拟艺术工程”的主题展和竞赛单元活动顺利举办后,2014427日,第二届深圳独立动画双年展即日宣布正式启动,至201536日全部项目结束。同首届一样,第二届深圳独立动画双年展继续设立了竞赛单元。

 

第二届深圳独立动画双年展主题为“影舞之眼·视域之外”,旨在发掘独立动画与广义的活动影像(Moving Image)、以及与当代艺术的紧密关联和问题意识。这里,独立动画也不仅作为一种独立、自主的动画影像的艺术创作,而也试图回溯到更为关键的影像生产机制、延展至电影节和美术馆等多种话语空间来进行深入探讨。 第二届深圳独立动画双年展计划分为流动论坛、竞赛单元、主题展三个主要部分。

 

第二届深圳独立动画双年展由深圳华侨城创意文化园主办,策展人为董冰峰、郑慧华(台湾),展览总监何金芳。

 

2. 竞赛单元宗旨

2.1  重在鼓励和支持独立、原创的动画创作,以加强独立动画的生存、发展及讨论空间。

2.2  推动高等学院教育、民间个人及当代艺术领域的动画创作和交流,尤其重在发现有创造力年轻人的动画作品,让独立动画在中国有广阔的发展前景和培养空间。

2.3  加强中国与国际独立动画的交往与交流,推动独立动画创作的多样性与实验性。

2.4 区别于传统的商业动画与动漫产业,做到真正的独立自主、服务公共、品牌化的重要的展示平台。

 

3. 竞赛作品征集及放映时间

3.1 征集时间:2014427-201410月8(截止日期以北京时间10月8当日寄出为准)

3.2 放映时间:2014121-2014年12月5(12月6周六为双年展开幕日)

 

4. 竞赛单元征集要求

4.1 本届竞赛面向全球征集,参赛导演必须是40岁(1974年后出生)以下,国籍不限,以公司、团体或个人名义均可参加。

4.2 参赛者必须拥有参赛作品的完整版权。

4.3 参赛作品必须是20135月后至2014年之间制作的作品,每人/每团体可以提交不多于(包括)3部的参赛作品,长片、短片不限。互动多媒体动画或多屏幕动画装置类作品,不予接收。

4.4 参赛作品必须是个人(包括团体)原创的动画作品,要求作品有一定的思想性、观念性与动画语言的独特性。商业类动画与动漫产业等相关的动画作品,不予接收。

 

5. 参赛作品提交要求

5.1 参赛作品可以以光碟(两份)寄送、AVIMPG等数据格式网络提交。

5.2 参赛作品需提交4张高像素、电子版的影像截图或者剧照(以刻录至光盘的形式,并附带剧照的文字介绍信息)。

5.3 参赛作品请按照参赛作品表格文件填写、提交。

 

6. 参赛作品的传播方式

6.1  参赛作品于双年展指定放映时间进行两轮公开放映。

6.2  参赛作品(片段)用于深圳独立动画双年展的媒体推广,包括双年展图录、双年展网站及媒体报道。

6.3  参赛作品(片段)用于深圳独立动画双年展的学术演讲与公共教育活动。

6.4  参赛作品用于与国内、国际其他专业电影节、美术馆之间的非盈利性质的学术交流和互换项目(作者版权许可后)。

注:投递参赛即认可参赛作品后期传播的整体安排,具体实施方法将另行协商确定

 

7. 竞赛单元评选程序

参赛作品将分为初审、放映与终审三个环节:

7.1  初审:参赛作品提交后,由组委会邀请3位初审评委进行审核,选出入围竞赛单元的作品;

7.2  放映:所有入围竞赛单元的参赛作品,都将在双年展期间正式对公众轮放映2次;

7.3  终审:由组委会邀请3位终审评委(不同于初审评委人选)对所有入围作品进行评选,获奖结果将于双年展开幕当日对外颁布。

 

8. 竞赛单元初审、终审评委团

双年展将邀请6位在业界获重要评价的国际、国内导演、艺术家、策展人等分别担任竞赛单元初、终审的工作。

 

9. 竞赛单元奖项设置

9.1 评委会提名奖(片长不限),2

9.2 组委会大奖(片长不限),1

9.3 最佳动画短片奖(30分钟以下),1

9.4 最佳动画长片奖(30分钟及以上),1

 

10. 入围作者出席双年展

所有入围竞赛单元的参赛作者(包括团体代表),都会受邀出席参加第二届深圳独立动画双年展,参加作品放映和现场问答。

Visions and Beyond: The Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale

Competition Program

 

1. Introduction of the Competition

After the success of The First Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale: The World of Soul: As Virtual Art Engineering in 2012 and 2013, the Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale will start on April 27, 2014, with the whole project finishing by March 6, 2015. As with the first biennale, the Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale has a competition program.

 

The theme of the Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale is “Visions and Beyond. It aims to promote and advance the production of independent animations and the field of the moving image, by revealing their intimate link with contemporary art. Our initiative not only revolves around the independent and autonomous creative process of animation as art works, but also to reflect on the mechanisms of image production by placing animation under the context of multiple discourse spaces such as film festivals and museums. The Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale will have three parts: Mobile Forums, Competition Program, and a Themed Exhibition.

 

The Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale is hosted by Shenzhen OCT-LOFT. The curators are Dong Bingfeng and Amy Cheng (Taiwan), and the Exhibition Director is He Jinfang.

 

2. Aims of the Competition

2.1To encourage and support the making of independent and original animation, in order to improve the industry environment, development, and discursive space of independent animation.

2.2To encourage the creation and discussion of animation among individuals, within colleges, and contemporary art fields, and especially focus on encouraging the talented young generation and their creative works, to further push forward the independent animation industry into a larger potential development in China.

2.3To enhance communication between Chinese and international independent animation artists/makers, and encourage the multiplicity and experimental quality of independent animation.

2.4To differ from traditional commercial animation and the comic industry, and to build an important platform that achieves true independence and provides a public service.

 

3. Submission and Screening Period of the Participating Works:

3.1Submission Period: from Apr 27th, 2014 to Oct 8th, 2014 (Deadline on Oct 8th, Beijing Time, subject to the sending date)

3.2Screening Period: from Dec 1st, 2014 to Dec 5th, 2014 (The biennale opens on Dec 6th)

 

4. Participation Regulatory

4.1This competition recruits works from all over the world. The applicant (film director) must be under 40 (born after 1974). Nationality unrestricted. All the applicants fit in the conditions could participate in the name of any personal, company, or group.

4.2The participants must own the complete copyright of the work.

4.3The work must have been completed since May of 2013. Every individual (or group) may submit no more than three works to the competition. Both short films and feature films are welcomed. Interactive multi-media animation or multi-screen animation installation works will not be accepted.

4.4The work must be an original animation by the individual applicant(or group applicants). The work should present unique thought, opinion, and/or animation language. Commercial animation or works related to the comic industry will not be accepted.

 

5. Submission Requirements

5.1 The works can be submitted via DVD (two copies) by mail, or as AVI or MPG file via the Internet.

5.2 Four high-resolution digital screenshots or stills must be submitted with the works (record them on a disc and provide introductive text aboutthe stills).

5.3 Please submit the completed application form together with the work(s).

 

6. The Public Presentation of the Works

6.1The works will be screened in two rounds to the public at the Screening Period during the Biennale.

6.2The excerpts of the work may be used for the promotion of the Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale, promotional approaches including the exhibition catalogue, the website, and media reports on the biennale.

6.3The excerpts of the participant works will be used in the academic lectures and public education activities of the Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale.

6.4The participating works will be used in non-profit academic communication and exchange programs with other Chinese and international film festivals and museums (after receiving the copyright approval of the authors).

p.s.: The submission of the works means the author agrees with the above presentation plan of the works. Specific executive details will be decided after further discussion and consultation.

 

7. The Selection Process of the Competition

The works go through three sessions: First Selection, Screening, and the Final Selection

7.1First Selection: after the submission of the works, the committee will invite a jury of three members to select the nominated works for the competition which could go through to the next sessions.

7.2Screening: all the nominated works for the competition will be screened officially to the public in two rounds during the biennale.

7.3Final Selection: the committee will invite a jury of three members (different from the jury members for the First Selection) to select the winners from the nominated works, and the results will be announced on the opening day of the biennale.

 

8. Jury of the First and Final Selection

The biennale will invite totally six jury members including important directors, artists, and curators from China and international area for the first and final selection of the works.

 

9. The Awards

9.1The Nomination Award (open to short or feature films), 2 works

9.2The Committee Grand Award (open to short or feature films), 1 work

9.3Best Short Film Award (Less than 30 minutes), 1 work

9.4Best Feature Film Award (30 minutes or longer), 1 work

 

 

10. About the Nomination Award Winners Attendance at the Biennale

 

All the award winners (or representatives of group-winners) of the nominated works will be invited to the Second Shenzhen Independent Animation Biennale to attend the Screening and interaction program.
